The first edition was published at Canterbury in four folio volumes, 1778–99. It is a rare book, not easy to get hold of. But now (Feb. 2019), thanks to the University of Michigan, page images of all four volumes are freely available online. This is the link: https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/000152652
The next step should be to make an accurate transcript of the full text. And the next step after that should be to compare the two editions, marking up the additions and alterations which Hasted made in the second.
As an experiment (Aug. 2020), I have collated the two versions of Hasted’s description of Rochester – 64 pages in the first edition, 147 pages in the second. (The results, such as they are, can be found on my Rochester page.) Considering the time and trouble that cost, I am not in any hurry to continue.
